Terms of Service
In short
- OpnCut is a Mac app that helps you make videos with the AI coding agent you choose. You own the movies you make.
- Creating and editing movies is free. Exporting more movies, without a watermark or with music and voice, needs a paid plan or a one-time unlock.
- Payments are handled by Paddle, our reseller. You can cancel any time.
- Your AI agent is a separate service with its own terms and costs.
- Export movies with the app's Export, and don't try to get around plan limits.
1. Who we are
OpnCut is made by Notch Studio AB, organisation number 559600-2708, Kragstalundsvägen 29, 186 54 Vallentuna, Sweden ("we", "us").
These terms cover the OpnCut desktop app, the opncut.app website, your OpnCut account and the online services the app uses (together "OpnCut"). By creating an account or using OpnCut you agree to them. If you use OpnCut for a company, you accept them on its behalf.
2. Your account
- You need an OpnCut account to export movies and to use online features such as voiceovers. You can create and edit movies without one.
- Keep your sign-in secure and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
- You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent where you live if that is higher.
3. Your AI agent
OpnCut works with AI coding agents you install and sign in to yourself, such as Claude Code, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI, OpenCode or Aider. These are third-party services:
- They are not part of OpnCut and are not included in any OpnCut plan. Their providers may charge you, and their own terms and privacy policies apply.
- What you write to your agent, and the files it reads in your project, are sent to that provider, not to us.
- AI output can be wrong or unexpected. Check your movies before you publish them.
4. Plans, payments and unlocks
- Free. You can create, edit and preview as many movies as you like. Free exports have a small "Made with OpnCut" mark and are limited as described on our pricing.
- Plus and Pro are subscriptions, billed monthly or yearly in advance. They renew automatically until you cancel. When you cancel, your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
- Unlock a single movie is a one-time purchase for one movie: you can export that movie without a watermark, with its music and voice, as often as you like.
- Limits count movies, not exports: exporting the same movie again does not count again. Limits reset each calendar month.
- Our reseller Paddle (Paddle.com Market Ltd) is the Merchant of Record for all purchases. Paddle handles payment, invoices, sales tax and VAT, and its buyer terms also apply to your purchase.
- We may change prices and plans. Changes to a subscription take effect at your next renewal, and we will tell you in advance.
- Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy.
5. Your movies and content
- You own the movies and project files you make with OpnCut, and the media you add to them. We claim no rights to them.
- Your projects live on your computer, and movies are rendered on your computer.
- You are responsible for having the rights to what you put in your movies (screenshots, logos, footage, text) and for how you publish them.
- Music from the OpnCut library and voiceovers generated in OpnCut may be used in your exported movies as described in the Music and Voice License.
- Stock photos and videos you find through OpnCut come from Pexels and Pixabay and are subject to their licenses.
6. Acceptable use
Don't use OpnCut to:
- break the law or infringe anyone's rights, including making misleading ads or content that impersonates others;
- create sexual content involving minors, or content that harasses, threatens or incites violence;
- generate voices that imitate a real person without their permission;
- get around plan limits or the watermark, for example by building your own export, capturing or recording movies outside the app's Export, or mixing OpnCut music or voices into video outside the app;
- resell or redistribute OpnCut's music, voices, skills or online services on their own, or overload or reverse engineer our services.
We log attempts to get around export limits that the app detects. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms. If the breach is not serious, we will warn you first.
7. Our software and content
We own OpnCut, its design, its film runtime, skills, templates, music library and voice service. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use them to make your movies while your account is in good standing. The app's open-source components are covered by their own licenses.
8. Updates and changes
The app updates itself. We may add, change or remove features. If we remove a paid feature you rely on, you may cancel and ask for a pro-rata refund of the unused period. We may update these terms; if a change matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
9. Warranties and liability
OpnCut is provided as is. We work to keep it reliable but cannot promise it will be error-free or always available. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits or lost data, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer under mandatory law, or our liability for gross negligence or intent.
10. Ending
You can stop using OpnCut and delete your account at any time from the app or by emailing us. We may end these terms if you seriously breach them. Movies you have exported remain yours.
11. Law and disputes
Swedish law applies. Disputes go to Swedish courts, but if you are a consumer in the EU you may also use the courts and mandatory consumer rules of your home country, and the EU's online dispute resolution platform. Consumers in Sweden can also turn to the National Board for Consumer Disputes (ARN).
